Our speaker will discuss the various job opportunities, challenges and fun for data analysis (including statistics, data science, data analytics, and even finance & economics) and computer science related majors. 

Speaker Bio
Flora Wu, a senior Data Architect at Amazon Web Services (AWS), the global leader of cloud computing. Her enterprise customers include one of the biggest financial institutions and well-known internet companies.

Flora got her master’s degree in computer science from university of Illinois at Chicago, and MBA from Kellogg, Northwestern.

Before joining AWS, Flora has a rich working experience in the tech industry including Consultant at HP, Senior Consultant at Compact Solutions, Data Architect at TransUnion, and Principal Data Architect at Beyond Soft.

Theme:  A group of students with strong interests in data science/AI/computer science will talk about their experiences and reflections from those fields, aiming to encourage youth in learning and participating in these newly emerging fields. Big Data is taking on an increasingly important role in the fields of medical health, scientific research, engineering, social science, business, finance, sports, etc. There is a great benefit to younger generations to understand these new tech and career directions at an early stage

Moderator:  Amy Dong from Illinois, USA

Amy Dong is a senior at Hinsdale Central High School, Illinois. She is the founder of her high school’s Data Science club as well as DataRizon (dataRizon.org), a nonprofit organization focused on data science outreach. Interested in STEM research, she attended MIT’s Research Science Institute in 2021.

Panelist: Jedd Hui from California, USA

Jedd Hui is a sophomore year undergraduate student at University of Wisconsin Madison majoring in computer science. He graduated from the Harker School, and made USACO Platinum.

Panelist: Joseph Luo

Joseph Luo is a freshman at Purdue studying Data Science. He participated in many Hackathons and has experience in IT and technical support. In his free time, he likes playing sports and video games.

Panelist: Ziyun Wang

Ziyun Wang is a Data Science and Analytic major graduate student at Georgetown University. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University in 2019, double majored in math and philosophy. As a strategic and creative relationship builder with a demonstrated record of developing data-driven strategies for securing major gifts, she has more than two years of successful performance in large, complex institutions of higher education, academic medicine, and international development with a commitment to advancing mission-driven nonprofit organizations.

Panelist: Xinyi Chen

Xinyi Chen graduated from MIT in 2019 with a Computer Science degree. She is currently a software engineer at Facebook working on Oculus (VR product). While at MIT, she did a year-long graph algorithm performance optimization research under MITComputer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), and received an outstanding research award. I was also captain of the MIT Asian Dance Team, which is the largest dance group on campus.
